Extracorporeal Blood Oxygenation and Ozonation (EBOO) is an advanced ozone-based procedure that uses a closed-loop system to expose blood to a controlled oxygen-ozone mixture outside the body before safely returning it to circulation.
EBOO is considered a complementary modality and is used within integrative medical settings by trained healthcare professionals. It is not a medication and is not intended as a stand-alone treatment for disease.
During an EBOO session, blood is gently withdrawn through a venous access point, passed through a closed medical circuit where it is exposed to a precisely controlled ozone-oxygen mixture and filtered, and then returned to the body.
A typical session lasts approximately 60 minutes and may involve processing up to several liters of blood over the course of treatment. All procedures are performed using medical-grade equipment and established safety protocols.
EBOO has been studied and explored in integrative care settings for its potential effects on physiological processes related to:
Oxygen utilization
Oxidative signaling
Immune system modulation
Circulatory dynamics
Research into ozone-based therapies is ongoing, and individual responses vary. EBOO is not appropriate for all individuals, and its role in care is determined on a case-by-case basis.
Blood Withdrawal – Blood is drawn through a sterile, closed-loop system
Ozonation & Filtration – Blood passes through a controlled ozone exposure chamber and filtration system
Reinfusion – Treated blood is returned to circulation
Duration – Approximately 60 minutes
Ozone is never inhaled during this process.
EBOO is administered only by trained medical professionals using strict safety protocols. As with any medical procedure, it is not appropriate for everyone.
EBOO is not recommended for individuals with certain conditions, including but not limited to:
Known bleeding disorders or significantly low platelet counts
Pregnancy
Certain metabolic or enzymatic conditions (such as G6PD deficiency)
Other conditions that may increase procedural risk
A full medical evaluation is required before determining candidacy.
EBOO may be considered as part of a broader, individualized care plan. It is not a replacement for conventional medical care and is not presented as a cure or guaranteed intervention.
Treatment decisions are made collaboratively after appropriate evaluation, informed consent, and review of risks and alternatives, and are delivered in accordance with state licensing laws.
The ozone-oxygen mixture has not been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the treatment, cure, or prevention of disease. The information provided on this page is for educational purposes only and does not establish a provider-patient relationship.
